When choosing the next new vinyl liner for your swimming pool you might want to consider a dark print liner if you want your water to be warmer. Paying for heated pool water is very expensive so anything you can do to reduce on heating costs is a good idea. Commonly a solar blanket cover is the best efficiency improvement you can make to a pool if you want warmer water without paying through the nose for it. When it comes to vinyl liner pools there is a definitive advantage for darker color liners as these will provide free heat for your pool water.
Vinyl pool liners are printed on stock vinyl which will be white, light blue or dark blue in color most commonly (with some newer options more recently such as gray based, or beige based stock). In addition to the stock the liner is printed on, there is the color of the print itself. So this is two opportunities to choose darker colors which can provide free heat to your pool. Of specific note is that a dark printed pattern on a dark blue stock is probably your best overall option. A dark printed liner on light colored or even white liner stock can have problems with fading over time. As the liner ages and the pattern wears away the stock under the pattern will show. If you have light or white colored stock on a dark printed liner you will be able to see the white stock where the pattern has worn away. However, a dark print liner on a dark blue liner stock will not show wear. It is very hard to see any wear on a dark stock liner even after a long period of time and wear. If you want a liner that looks good for as long as possible, and you want free heat for your pool, then a dark print liner on dark liner stock is the best you can do.
