In this video I am opening and unboxing the Hayward TigerShark QC robotic pool vacuuming for review and testing in a 20x40' pool. The setup for this vacuum was super-simple with the time from unboxing to operating in the pool actively vacuuming debris at somewhere around 60 to 90 seconds. There are two optional items that are included with the Hayward TigerShark robotic cleaner and that is the high velocity inlet as well as the new style thrust restrictor plate.
The high velocity inlet is superior for heavy debris, fine debris or for when you have a vacuum that tends to get hung up on your main drains. The thrust plate restrictor is the control mechanism for the TigerShark that regulates how high it climbs up your pool walls. If the vacuum tends to fall off at the top of the wall, this is a situation where you would add the optional thrust restrictor plate. Both of these are detailed in this review video.
The QC model of TigerShark has optional coarse filters which can be used for heavier debris and spring cleanings. Also available as an optional extra is the caddy cart to help moving and locating this vacuum (as well as for storage). The Hayward TigerShark vac weighs around 22 pounds so it is appreciable heavy for some people to move (and lift out of the pool). The cleaning cycle options for this robotic vacuum are the 90 minute (full pool) quick clean, as well as a four hour deep clean option. In order to prevent the cord from tangling be sure to reverse the handle direction after every use!
