Vinyl Liner Swimming Pool Cost Saving Tips From a Pool Pro
▶️

When it comes to vinyl liner swimming pools so many pool owners make the same mistake which can end up costing them hundred to even thousands of dollars more. This comes down to choosing the correct point to change your old vinyl liner to a new one. Many pool owners continue to operate their pool up until the point that it simply will not hold water any longer. In reality, waiting this long and attempting to squeeze the longest possible service life from your pool liners ends up causing damage to other areas of your pool that will now need to be fixed before the new liner gets installed. So what are the areas that can be damaged? Unfortunately the list is pretty long and comprehensive.

Waiting too long to install a new pool liner can result in additional damage to the wall surfaces resulting in extensive grinding and refinishing with a cold galvanizing compound. This is from leaking pool water accessing the back sides of the pool liner over long periods of time. This seriously advances the rate of corrosion of steel walled pool kits. Floor damage is another area that add up to extra repair costs, especially for any pool that is drained or drains due to failure, exposing the floor of the pool. The liner and water in the pool actually serve to protect your floors from damage. Pool coping (and pool decking for deck-integrated copings) are the most common area to experience problems from a "too-old" pool liner. As the liner ages it shrinks and loses elasticity which results in additional strain on your pool coping. Aluminum coping tracks can handle this strain better but PVC coping tracks can often fail and crack as a result of the additional strain from the old liner. Some coping tracks are easy enough to install...but some are huge, time and labor intensive jobs that can sometimes require removal and replacement of your concrete deck around the pool. Definitely something you want to avoid if you are a vinyl liner pool owner.

Almost all vinyl liner pool owners wait too long before getting a new liner. Replace the liner before it fails and causes additional damage and in the long term you will actually be further ahead. Vinyl pools punish late maintenance pretty severely and can easily double or triple the cost of your next liner change if you let things go too far.
