The Hayward Hydrapure is an AOP (advanced oxidation potential) hydroxyl radical generator intended for advanced pool water chemistry and care. These systems are some of the newest technology in the world of swimming pools and utilizes one of the most reactive elements, hydroxyl radicals, to oxidize (effectively and rapidly) any organic debris, parasites, bacteria or other contaminants in your pool water. These systems can be used for new pool construction or added to existing pool systems. These are intended to compliment or supplement traditional chemical and chlorine care of your water. They will directly reduce contamination of the water and enable you to use less chemical sanitizer in your pool overall versus a pool without an AOP system.
The Hayward Hydrapure system uses a mixture of germicidal UV light along with ozone in order to generate hydroxyl radicals. The unit is 99.99% effective at killing bacteria and contaminants up to 80 GPM, with marginally reduced effectiveness between 80 and the unit maximum design flow rate of 120 GPM. Interestingly the electrical consumption for the Hayward Hydrapure is very low which means that it will not significantly increase your electrical bills to add this AOP system to your existing pool filtration system. If you would like to learn more about advanced oxidation process as it relates to swimming pool water treatment you can read this Swimming Pool Steve article about AOP in swimming pools.
